About Davisity

Diversity in translation by Anthony Davis

I offer Japanese to English translation, interpreting, writing, editing, and tour guiding in Kansai and further afield.

What I like about Japan? I love the people, the language, the writing system, literature, history, tea and sake, and 80s synthpop.

I studied Japanese in Australia, spent a year in Japan in 1990, and moved here in 2007. I’m a JA to EN translator, with a love of kanji and a background in travel, a qualified tea ceremony instructor, and DJ. I also co-run Bar Chueca, an LGBT-friendly dance bar serving Spanish vermouth, tapas, and disco music, with my partner on Sunday nights in Sannomiya, Kobe!

Writing is an art.
It should suit the purpose.
Fancy words do not equal good writing.
My writing is tight: clear and concise.
Still, I hope it is a pleasure to read.
This is what I strive for in translation, writing, and editing.
